Battery / charging
Drive carefully
What it means
The charging system is not charging the battery, usually due to an alternator, belt or battery fault.
What to do
Switch off unneeded electrics and drive to the nearest workshop; the engine may stop when the battery runs flat. If the belt has broken or it overheats, stop safely.
This is general guidance. Symbols differ between manufacturers, so check your owner's manual, and have a red warning light looked at before you drive on.
