Transmission fault

Drive carefully

What it means

The gearbox or automatic transmission has a fault or is overheating.

What to do

If it overheats, stop safely and let it cool. Otherwise drive gently, avoid hard acceleration and go to a workshop soon, as the car may enter limp mode.

This is general guidance. Symbols differ between manufacturers, so check your owner's manual, and have a red warning light looked at before you drive on.
